Upper School Spanish Teacher

St. Stephen's Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 710 students (grades 6-12), is seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher for a full-time position beginning August 1, 2024.

The school is looking for candidates who are accomplished instructors, are technologically proficient, and who are committed to working closely with high-school-age students. 

Duties include:

  • Teach (4) sections of Upper School Spanish;
  • Contribute to two other areas of school life, including athletic or extracurricular programs;
  • Serve as a student advisor, supervise a lunch table, supervise students during study halls, recess periods, afternoon activities, library, Chapel and assembly programs required of the students, chaperone at student events, participate in student retreats, community service days, and attend team meetings, as assigned.

Experience in teaching all levels of Spanish is required, as is near-native proficiency in the language. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree in Spanish and significant experience living and working in a Spanish-speaking community. Of particular value would be a demonstrated interest in or experience teaching language and communication through study of the history, literature and culture of Spanish-speaking communities around the globe.
