Middle School Librarian
St. Stephen's Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 710 students (grades 6-12), is seeking a Middle School Librarian for a full-time position beginning August 1, 2026.
Duties include:
- Collaborate with the Head Librarian to develop and implement library programming, assist in supporting students, supervising the library space and selecting library materials;
- Teach a Middle School information literacy class and serve as a Middle School Advisor;
- Supervise students in the library space in order to maintain a quiet, academic atmosphere;
- Provide reader's advisory to the school community;
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement curriculum-aligned projects and resources
- In alignment with departmental philosophy, supplement teacher instruction, where requested, on research skills utilizing both print and digital resources;
- Build students’ sense of excitement around literature in support of reading programs and initiatives;
- Recommend library acquisitions;
- Maintain a professional relationship with faculty, staff and students;
- Serve as a resource for day and boarding students, routinely offer general academic guidance, connect them to on-campus support, and be involved in their academic success;
- Assist students and faculty with library materials and equipment;

Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in library sciences;
- Three or more years of experience as a school librarian and a knowledge of the principles and techniques of librarianship;
- Excellent communication, instructional, and organizational skills;
- A student-centered, collaborative approach with a commitment to fostering lifelong learning;
- Expertise with the Library Management System software.
